Sacred Spiral Oracle: the Fall Card

fall card picture

Since we’ve recently transitioned to the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere, I wanted to share my Fall card.

What am I harvesting in my life?

Fall is a season of transition, hanging between summer’s energetic warmth and winter’s cold stillness. It is a time of harvest, for reaping the bounty of seeds you have planted. Taking it to a personal level, fall (and the Fall card) is a great time to reflect on what you have learned and gained from recent experiences. How will you utilize what you have gained to nourish yourself in the time ahead?

Card images and symbols: changing color leaf, tree, pumpkin, field, gray sky (changing weather), shovel (for harvesting or digging).

When I think of fall, I think of many of the typical things: changing and falling leaves, pumpkin or pumpkin spice flavored everything, Halloween, corn mazes. I love putting on layers and feeling the refreshing touch of the cooler air. I also think of preparing for winter. I consider winter to be an internal season whose energy lends itself to stillness and reflection. Fall turns towards that as we continue to lose light in the day. Many things fade and begin to die in the fall, but there is also space to gather, learn, and remember.

Oracle cards: Creating a sacred spiral

Inspired by a picture of oracle cards arranged in the shape of a spiral, I decided to try it with my cards. I thought it was appropriate, considering I call them Sacred Spiral Oracle cards.

Since my cards are 4×6″, it took up a decent amount of space to include all 41. There was some meaning to how I laid out the cards: It tells a story that begins with confusion and resistance, leading to self-exploration and journeying, and ending in feeling powerful and at home.

I have to say: The drums and the rainstick that live in that corner of the living room look pretty good with the cards.

Intuitive Custom Orders by Seeking Spirit Designs

My vision:

I sit in an office, or maybe it’s the back room of a store, or at a small table in a living room.  I ask my customer what she is looking for:   is there a specific stone she is drawn to?  I have a bowl full of stones to look at as well as other resource books on crystal meanings.  Would this be a gift for someone or herself?  Is there a quality she would like to embrace in herself more?  Something she wants to let go of? Something she wishes to protect?  Are there any symbols or shapes she is drawn to?   I ask her record her dreams for a week and tell me any details that stick out to her.

Once I have information I spent time brainstorming.  I show her some sketches. She gives me feedback about what she is drawn to, and why.  At this point, we discuss materials and price.  Then I create, playing with wire, gemstones, and intuition.

I would like my jewelry design and art business to have an intuitive custom aspect, where I combine my energetic and artist gifts to create one-of-a-kind pieces for people. I’ve made a custom piece for a friend, and I really enjoyed the process:  it was experimental, collaborative, and very satisfying.

My energy healing training:  I am Reiki Level 2 attuned and I’ve also done some informal training based on the teachings of the Berkeley Psychic Institute.  Energy work feels like it comes naturally to me, but training and attunement has made it easier for me to access and sense energy.  I also identify as empathic, and can pick up on others’ emotions.  I want to continue to integrate these skills and abilities into my creative process – it feels healing for me, and I hope it will help others as well.
I love the idea of setting an intention and working with someone to make something special for them or a loved one.

Seeking Spirit, Seeking Art

Topaz Spiral Heart with Rumi

One year ago, I felt like I had lost my spirit and my sense of Spirit.  I had worked so hard to find her before, and it was as if she had slipped through my fingers again.  I was in a deep depression and often felt like darkness was encroaching.

As the months went by, I searched and found spirit in small moments:  through moments in nature, through dance, through painting, through wrapping wire around stones.  The frequency of those moments grew, fed by my desire to build a new life for myself.  It was new, and at the same time, it had its roots in my childhood, when my artroom was my main playground.  I decided that it was time to truly commit to my art.  It was time to follow the path that I had hesitated to take time after time, thinking that I should perhaps pursue something else.

Now, a year later, I have more moments of discovery.  My life is a process of seeking and finding my own spirit, and the greater Spirit around me.  Art is, and has always been, a part of my life.  Life is art.  I seek, I lead, I create, and I follow.
